Information
Mission Statement: Riverlands Rise aims to create a nurturing environment through educational and equine assisted activities. We believe that cultivating positive relationships with horses can foster new beginnings and stronger support networks for individuals and groups. Our vision is to foster an environment that promotes open-mindedness, emotional growth, and lasting transformations.
Program Information: Riverlands Rise provides Equine/Animal/Nature-Assisted Learning (EAL) programs that promote well-being and self-awareness for children, teens, and adults. These sessions, which don't involve riding horses, aim to enhance social interactions, boost self-esteem, and assist individuals in navigating emotional challenges. The structured environment encourages trust, communication, and overcoming obstacles. No prior horse or animal experience is required to participate in these sessions.
How does Equine-Assisted Learning Work? Equine-Assisted Learning at Riverlands Rise partners with horses to support clients' personal growth. Sessions occur on the ground, involving grooming, leading, games, and observation. Through both structured and unstructured experiences, horses provide immediate feedback, reflecting emotions and behavior, promoting self-awareness and self-exploration. These activities seek to address areas like self-awareness, self-esteem, communication, interpersonal skills, trust, behavior patterns, setting boundaries, group cohesion, and more.

What makes a horse so important? Horses are big, curious, and playful, and can sometimes seem intimidating. However, their gentle energy and ability to attune to us can captivate even the youngest child. Horses have a unique way of responding to us that encourages authenticity, picking up on subtle energy and body language cues and sensing when we are not being true to ourselves. Being with horses can create a deep sense of connection to ourselves and to them which can be both challenging and rewarding.

Professional Disclosure
Professional Disclosure Statement for Dawn Tukuniu and other practitioners of Riverlands Rise;

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a therapeutic activity that involves horses. During group sessions, there is often more then one facilitator. Horses have the ability to reflect our patterns and behaviors, making them unique partners in the process. Most of the work with horses is conducted on the ground, without riding, although there may be some mounted experiences. It's important to note that EAL can evoke deep emotions. Success in EAL depends on the participants' desire for change and their willingness to be honest with themselves, the facilitator, and the horse. Being aware of their needs, being willing to communicate, being curious, and having an open mindset will enable participants to gain the maximum benefit from the sessions.
